Image
As premiere after premiere continue to be unleashed from the folds of Nollywood, a certain lady clearly stands out; oozing poise and grace. That lady is Susan Peters.   Who is Susan Peters and which films has she done? When did she enter the industry? Those were the words swirling in my head when I caught up with the pretty actress recently.   Here’s what went down. BA:   Hi Susan! SP:   Hi Bola.   Good to see you! BA: You’re looking good.   SP: Thank you. BA: Your name doesn’t tell me where you’re from… are you Nigerian? SP: I’m a proper Nigerian girl. I’m from Benue ..of Idoma tribe to be precise. BA: Idoma..thats Tuface’s place, right? SP: That’s right. BA: I’ve been seeing you at several industry gigs… have you been in the industry (Nollywood) long? SP:   I have been in the industry since 2002 and I’ve acted in over 30 films. BA: Really? Which ones? SP: ‘Wasted Effort’ directed by Andy Amenechi, Sound of Poverty,…recently ‘Nollywood H...

MONA LISA CHINDA GLOWS AT DOUBLE PREMIERE

Image
Glo Ambassador Mona Lisa Chinda like the telecom brand she represents, glowed at the double premiere of the movies, ‘Guilty Pleasures’ and ‘Nollywood Hustler’ which took place at SilverBird Galleria, Victoria island, Lagos.   The star who was resplendent in an orange and gold roman-inspired dress, dazzled at the event which was well represented by members of the entertainment world as well as the business community.   In a brief chat with the actress, she intimated me on a few details about one of the movies.   “In   ‘Nollywood Hustler’ I played a conceited, haughty version of myself and I must say I really had fun playing it.   I had to scream, act horrified and even punch a couple of    people which is so unlike me! I’m usually quite good natured’. On being asked about the premiere she had this to say, ‘One word; Awesome! The event lived up to its billing… classy, well attended, beautiful!’ Any favourites? ‘They are both so different so they can’t...

Word is out that ace Movie Producer, Emem Isong is about to release two of her new films, ‘Guilty Pleasures’ and ‘Nollywood Hustler’ in the cinemas in Nigeria. The movies will be premiered at the Silver Bird Galleria on the 29th of November 2009. Red carpet is from 5pm till 7pm and the Premiere proper takes off at 7pm. Emem has been known to put on some pretty ritzy premieres in the past, her last which was for ‘Reloaded’ was held at the prestigious Civic Centre and drew the crème de la crème of the banking and entertainment world. What should we expect this year? Hear her, ‘Don’t expect less. This year I want to concentrate more on showing the movies than displaying effizy as was the case last year. I wanted to make a point then; that Nigerian films are capable of drawing the kind of crowd that would not normally be associated with film and it worked! The place was jam packed with people from the upper echelons of society. This year, its all about showcasing creativity. Not just...

NOLLYWOOD HUSTLER

Image
Emem Isong and Uche Jombo collaborate to shoot a new comedy titled ‘Nollywood Hustler’. Elvis (Charles Inojie) and Lucky (Bishop) are two no-good-out-of-work hustlers who want to shoot a film. They enlist the help of Prince Adolphus Akabogwu (Ejike Asiegbu) to sponsor it and the pepper soup joint assistant Scholarstica (Uche Jombo) to feature. But how do they get the A-List actors, Monalisa Chinda and Ramsey Nouah (acting as themselves) to act without paying their exorbitant fee? They then come up with a brilliant plan that leads to severe consequences for the pair. ‘Nollywood Hustler’ is a satire on the film making process in Nigerian film industry that will leave you laughing from start to finish. Produced by Emem Isong and written by Bola Aduwo & Uduak Isong Oguamanam, it has Uche Jombo as the Executive Producer and features several stars in cameo appearances.
