DISNEY SET TO PRODUCE FILM ON AFRICAN PRINCESS CALLED 'SADE'!
Reports coming in let us know that Disney is getting ready to produce a movie centered around an African Princess and its to be titled 'Sade'! This is not autobiographical and should not in anyway be confused with the British-Nigerian singer of the same name.
'It looks like the success of 'Black Panther' has opened the eyes of the 'higher ups' in Disney and let them know that not only adolescent white boys go to the cinemas to watch movies but other races as well. More importantly 'Black Panther' proved that there is money in stories about people of colour more especially African stories.
Penciled down to direct the film is Nigerian-American Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) The movie will be based on an original idea pitched by Ola Shokunbi and Lindsey Reed Palmer, a duo who wrote the script for a 2017 short comedy film.

So am I glad? Well, kind of...While I'm glad that African stories are getting seen on the world stage, (and its not about famine, disease, poverty and war,) I'm wondering... what it will mean for our industry Nollywood. Will they be guilty of 'taking' our stories? That's left to be seen. Kudos to them for this step anyway.
